KNOW YOUR RIGHTS

Starting on the evening of July 31, 2008, a new Carrboro town ordinance sets the following limits on towing fees. If your car is towed, you cannot be charged more than this!

• Maximum towing fee: $100
• Maximum storage fee: $20 a day
• Maximum fee for unhitching your car instead of towing it: $50

Also, the new ordinance requires a towing company to call the police within 30 minutes of towing your car (so that the police will be able to tell you where your car is).

This new ordinance doesn't solve the towing problem here at Abbey Court, but it does give us new rights. Thanks to Carrboro mayor Mark Chilton and the Board of Aldermen for their support!
